At Kriegler Farms we value water as the hard-won source of life of this property and we ensure that we protect this vital resource. We receive our water from mountain streams that have their sources in the Hex River Mountain range where the run-off from snow-capped mountain tops seeps gradually down the slopes and into the pristine mountain stream. This water contains minerals and organic material which creates the ideal medium for the production of table grapes. Although this is not a problem in the area, we continuously monitor the river water and water from boreholes for contamination.
The construction of the weir at the water intake in Moraine Kloof includes a fish ladder, allowing fish a route around the weir. The mountain streams support several endangered indigenous fish and the presence of these are studied and monitored by conservation organisations.
